Makai Brown is a 19-year-old Indianapolis native and college student. As well as being an award winning poet, he is also a multifaceted artist; being a classically trained cellist, visual artist, and is pursuing a career in 2D animation. Makai has been writing poetry since the young age of 4 and has not stopped since. With his writing, he explores the idea of escapism -seeking relief from reality- while offering solutions for our current systematic situations. For Makai, poetry is both a mirror and a map from who he has been to who he aspires to be.
